The City of Spencer has over 100 years of rich history
since its incorporation in 1903. Spencer is a historic,
beautiful and diverse community located just east of
the North Canadian River, located in Oklahoma County,
Oklahoma, which is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan
Area. Spencer is approximately ten miles from Downtown
Oklahoma City and shares borders with the City of Jones,
City of Nicoma Park, and the City of Midwest City. Spencer
gives businesses, residents, and tourists the unique
experience of country-style living while offering easy
access to main thoroughfares and the bustling excitement
of downtown Oklahoma City.
The new McCoy Walking Trail opened in October 2007.
The walking trail is located just south of Spencer City
Hall and will provide a safe and shaded place for residents
of the Farris First and Farris Highlands Subdivisions,
the Senior Citizens Center, and all City Departments
to walk for exercise or leisure.
Each September, Spencer holds its Unity Day Celebration,
an evening of fun and entertainment for Spencer citizens,
friends, family, neighboring communities, and visitors.
Last years performances included the Tinker Flying
High Band, Spencer Chickks, Auziah Antwine, Cindy &
Friends and Meah Obpe. An open Jam Session took place
from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. for anyone interested in
showing off his or her musical talent. An array of awareness
programs, top-notch arts & crafts and food vendors
will be available to tantalize your taste buds and decorate
your lifestyle. Old School Cruisers will also attend
to dazzle you with their display of classic cars. Call
(405) 771-3226 for more information. Admission is FREE.
