  Juneteenth
On Saturday, June 21 the City of Luther will celebrate Juneteenth by hosting a parade at 2pm in the downtown area. A picnic will follow the parade and will be held at the Booker T. Washington High School Memorial Community Park. The Park was dedicated on Sunday, October 25, 1998.
This year's Juneteenth Celebration is co-sponsored by the Booker T. Washington High School Alumni and the Luther Area Wide NAACP.
The first Juneteenth Celebration was held in Galveston, TX on June 19, 1865 following the Emanicpation Proclomation of January 1, 1863 which abolished slavery in the United States.

In the northeast corner of Oklahoma County is Luther, with a population just over 1,000.

In November of 2007, Luther had the dedication ceremony for the newly constructed Luther Veteran's Memorial and Freedom Center. It was fudned and built through genrous volunteers, with a fundraising drive by the Luther Historical Society.

There are three locationsin Luther that are on the National Register of Historic Places - Engel's Dry Goods Store, the Booher Archeological Site, and the Threatt Filling Station.
